Blizzard has reduced the frequency of elite enemy spawns in Diablo 4 dungeons in the latest patch to eliminate the need to constantly repeat locations for XP. However, the fanbase did not appreciate that gesture.

Diablo 4 Champion's Demise and Cairn Downfall location and how to clear - Dot Esports

In Diablo 4, players often spend time in a dungeon called Champion's Demise, which became the default location to farm XP. This is because that location had a noticeable higher concentration of elite enemies, which means a higher chance of getting valuable items and XP. Blizzard's latest change log states that they are standardizing the density of elite monster spawns in dungeons so that no specific location is noticeably stronger than others. However, players are unhappy about this change as low enemy density has been a point of criticism since the game's launch. Players suggest that Blizzard should not weaken Champion's Demise, but instead make the other dungeons stronger.

Developers are forcing players to join groups, just like in Diablo 3, where cooperative play was the most effective way to play. The same goes for Diablo 4, where solo players lose a 5% XP bonus and monster killing speed. A Reddit post criticizing these changes has garnered 7.4k likes, and the conclusion is that if Blizzard wants players to group up, they should implement a better matchmaking system, as playing solo is becoming increasingly difficult.

Champion's Demise isn't the first dungeon being treated this way. Before that, Blizzard has nerfed the Ruins of Eridu, which has left players disappointed. The Ruins of Eridu was a popular farming spot for players to gain experience points, legendaries, unique items, and gold. However, Blizzard has reduced the spawn rate for Elites in this dungeon, effectively halving the amount of experience that players can earn when repeatedly running this dungeon. Ruins of Eridu isn't the first target, as Blizzard have been targeting any dungeon that proves to be an optimal farming choice for experience. Players have expressed their disappointment on forums and social media, with some saying that Blizzard is killing all the fun in the game.
