Season of Discovery Leveling Tips
While some starting zones (like Elwynn Forest) are better than others, it doesn’t matter that much which race you pick and where you decide to quest.
1. Beast
Hunters, Ret Paladins, and Mages have the fastest leveling speed in this phase.
2. If you’re
leveling with a friend, consider what classes benefit each other. For example,
Mages with Warriors/Paladins are a great option due to their healing capabilities
in SoD.
3. Professions – Alchemy and Herbalism are the best overall combo for all classes.
And since raiding is early (25 level), you can build up potions for your raiding
needs while leveling.
4. When you unlock dungeons around 15-20 – farm them for items you need. They are also a good source of XP. Even better if you’re with a friend!
However, if
you’re playing Hardcore, dungeons can be risky due to trolls and griefers that
wipe their groups. Still, you’ll need the items from the dungeons, so consider
asking us for help. Visit our World of Warcraft Season of Discovery page and

New Class Roles in Season of Discovery

The Season
of Discovery heralds a transformative era, introducing a host of exciting
changes that redefine the roles classes can play. Let's take a closer look at
some of the classes and the versatile roles they can now master.
Mage
Mages, known for their proficiency in arcane magic, have taken on a crucial role in end-game raiding content. Their ability to control and manipulate the battlefield through crowd control spells is unmatched. However, in Season of Discovery, mages can fill in a role of a healer thanks to the Regeneration Rune. Basically, you mark a friendly target, and as you deal damage, the marked target will be healed for a certain amount. Reintegration Rune allows mages to resurrect. This allows mages to be standalone healers, and also deal damage in the process.
Priest
Priests, the spiritual leaders of Azeroth, have embraced their duality in the Season of Discovery. Just like healer mages, Holy Priests can fill in the versatile DPS/Healer role. However, in the Phase 1, priests aren’t good damage dealers. There’s mana problems and the DPS just isn’t as high.
Warlock
Warlocks used to be a pure DPS class in the Classic WoW. However, in the Season of Discovery, warlocks are very good tanks. Metamorphosis rune transforms you into a demon gaining you charge, taunt, and cleave-like abilities. Searing Pain will generate even more threat, while Life Tap provides twice as mana while in the demon form. If tanking isn’t to your liking, you can fill in the DPS role. Warlocks are still good damage dealers in Season of Discovery.
Paladin
In Season of Discovery, Paladins can successfully fill in all 3 roles. Yes, ret DPS is viable, and very much so. Tankadins gain Avenger Shield for ranged pulls and a taunt, so they are in a good spot too.
Shaman
In the Classic WoW, Shamans had some talents and skills that allowed them to be early game tanks. However, Shaman tanks weren’t were successful later in the game. In Season of Discovery, Shamans are very good AoE tanks able to hold group threat and incoming damage.
Rogue
Remember Rogue tanks in Black Temple raids on Illidan back in the Burning Crusade? Well, now you can be a Rogue tank in the Classic Season of Discovery. Rogues don’t have a shield but they gain new skills from Runes that increase their parry chance drastically. They can easily tank one target, but they aren’t good at keeping crowds in check unlike other tanking classes.
